Our wooden watercolor palette is made from natural walnut wood, so it may develop slight color stains or changes in appearance with use.
A little pigment staining is generally normal and shouldn't affect your painting experience. However, sharp edges, chips, or splinters should be reported so our support team can review the issue. 💙
What if my palette has paint stains?
Natural wood may absorb some pigment from watercolor paints, leaving a slight color tint in the wells.
To gently clean your palette:
-
Add a few drops of water to the stained well to soften any remaining paint.
-
Gently wipe away excess pigment using a soft, slightly damp cloth or brush.
-
Allow the palette to air-dry completely before adding new paint or closing it.
Some staining may remain, and that's generally normal for natural wood.
Avoid soaking the palette or rinsing it under running water.
What if the wood feels rough or has splinters?
If your palette has sharp edges, chipped wood, or loose splinters, please stop using it to avoid injury.
Do not attempt to sand, cut, or repair the damaged area before our team has reviewed it.

What if the wood looks swollen or absorbs water?
Natural wood can respond to moisture, which may cause temporary swelling or changes in appearance.
If this happens:
-
Gently wipe away excess moisture with a soft, dry cloth.
-
Leave the palette open on a flat surface in a dry, well-ventilated area.
-
Allow it to air-dry completely before closing or storing it.
-
Avoid using direct heat to speed up drying.
If the swelling doesn't improve or affects the palette's functionality, please contact our support team for assistance.
How can I keep my wooden palette in good condition?
-
Wipe away excess moisture after painting.
-
Avoid soaking, washing, or rinsing the palette under running water.
-
Allow it to dry completely before closing.
-
Avoid prolonged exposure to excessive moisture or direct heat.
-
Rewet dried watercolor paints with a few drops of water from your water brush rather than soaking the palette.
