Let your painting dry completely, then keep it flat, dry and out of direct sunlight. A few simple steps help your artwork stay lovely for a long time.
How do I store paintings in my sketchbook?
- Let every page dry fully. Wait until the paint and paper are completely dry before closing the sketchbook, so pages don't stick or transfer color.
- Flatten curled pages. Once dry, place the sketchbook under a few heavy books overnight.
- Store it flat in a dry place. Avoid damp spots like bathrooms, basements or a car on a hot day.
- Keep hands dry and clean. Water and lotion can leave marks on finished paintings.
How do I display a painting?
- Remove the page neatly. See our article "How do I remove a page to frame my painting?"
- Frame it behind glass. A frame protects your painting from dust, moisture and fingerprints.
- Choose the spot carefully. Hang it away from direct sunlight and away from steamy rooms, like the kitchen or bathroom.
Will my colors fade?
We don't have an official lightfastness rating for our paints at the moment. Keeping your artwork away from direct sunlight is the best way to help the colors stay bright. See "Are Tobio's watercolor paints lightfast?"
Good to know
- Loose paintings can be stored flat in a folder or between sheets of clean paper.
- Take a photo of your favorite pieces in soft daylight. It's a lovely way to keep and share your progress.
