Can I take my watercolor kit through airport security?

Tobio's Mini Watercolor Kit is compact and travel-friendly, and you can generally bring it in your carry-on luggage. However, airport security rules vary by country and airport.

Watercolor paints may be treated as liquids, gels, or pastes during security screening. If you're carrying your kit in your hand luggage, keep the paint tubes within the applicable liquid limits and place them in your liquids bag if required.

Final approval is always determined by airport security personnel.

Tips for a smooth trip

  • Let your palette dry first if you can. Leave it open for a few minutes after painting, then close it so the magnets hold it shut.
  • Keep it together. Clip your palette to your sketchbook so everything stays in one place in your bag.
  • Empty your water brush: Make sure the water brush is empty before passing through airport security. You can refill it after screening.

Not sure about your airport?
Security rules can vary by airport and country, so check with your airline or airport if you're unsure.

Happy painting on your travels!
