Refilling your wooden palette is quick: clear out the old color if needed, squeeze in a little fresh paint, and you're ready to paint again.
What you'll need
- Your paint tubes, for example our 12 Extra Paint Refills: https://tobioskits.com/products/12-extra-paint-refills
- A damp cloth or tissue
- Your water brush
How to refill a well
- Clear the well if you're changing colors. Add a few drops of water to soften the old paint, wipe it out with a damp cloth or your brush, and let the well dry.
- Open the tube. New tubes have a protective foil seal. Carefully pierce or peel it away before squeezing, and don't squeeze hard until it's fully open.
- Squeeze in a small amount. A thin layer of paint in each well rewets more easily than a thick blob.
- Paint right away, or let it dry. Both work. Dried watercolor comes back to life with a drop of water.
- Close the cap tightly. This helps the paint left in the tube stay fresh.
Caring for your wooden palette Please don't soak your palette or rinse it under running water. Wipe it with a damp cloth instead. A tiny tint of the old color in a well is normal and won't affect your painting.
