You don't need to know how to draw to fill your sketchbook. A blank page is a lovely place to start, and these simple ideas make it easy.
Easy first pages
- Color swatches: paint a little square of each color, then mix two together and see what appears.
- Simple shapes: leaves, circles, hearts and stripes make sweet first paintings.
- A light pencil sketch: draw a soft outline with a pencil, then paint inside it. Keep the lines light so they stay gentle under the paint.
- Trace an outline: trace around a leaf, a cookie cutter or the bottom of a glass, then fill the shape with color.
- Paint along with a tutorial: our free step-by-step tutorials walk you through each painting: https://tobioskits.com/pages/watercolor-tutorials
