The Short Answer
No — our current tees won't shrink. We know some of our earlier tees lost length in the wash, so we rebuilt them from the fabric up. Every tee we ship now is pre-shrunk twice and wash-tested, so the size you try on out of the bag is the size it stays.
What Went Wrong Before
We'll be honest with you: some of our earlier tees shrank after the first wash — mainly in length — even when customers washed exactly as instructed. That wasn't the experience we wanted anyone to have, and we've always treated it as a genuine quality issue rather than normal wear and tear.
What We Changed
We developed two brand-new tee fabrics from the ground up:
- Midweight tee — our everyday weight: soft, breathable, with a clean drape.
- Heavyweight tee — a denser, more structured fabric that holds its shape and feels premium.
Both fabrics are pre-shrunk twice during manufacturing and wash-tested before production, so there's no meaningful shrinkage once they reach you. The measurement on the label is the size you keep, wash after wash.
An Updated Fit, Too
Alongside the new fabrics, we've refined the tee fit to be less boxy and more comfortably relaxed — it keeps that easy, oversized Kansū feel but drapes better and wears cleaner. For sizing help, see our Sizing & Fit Guide.
Keeping Them at Their Best
Even though the tees are pre-shrunk, a little care keeps the fabric and prints looking sharp:
- Wash inside out at 30°C (cold)
- Do not tumble dry — hang dry or lay flat
- Avoid ironing directly on the print
Bought an Older Tee That Shrank?
If you have a tee from an earlier batch that shrank after washing, we'll put it right. Email us at orders@kansuworks.com within 14 days of delivery with your order number and a photo of the issue, and we'll arrange a free replacement — no return needed.
