Is it normal for my grow light to get hot?

Short answer: yes, they are designed to get hot on the outer casing/ heat sink.

Why it gets warm
After a few hours on, your grow light will get noticeably warm (sometimes quite hot) to the touch. That's completely normal, and it's not a fault.

The heat has somewhere to go
Our Grow Lights are built with a large surface area specifically to safely disperse heat away from the LED. Instead of trapping warmth around the LED diodes, the design spreads it out and lets it dissipate. Keeping the LED itself cooler, which ensures they last longer. That's a big part of why our lights are built to last 50,000 hours.

Designed to run for long stretches

Because of this heat dissipation design, your grow light is built to run for long periods, including while you're out. To keep things safe, just make sure yours is:

  • Mounted or set up securely

  • Not pressed against anything flammable, like curtains or paper

  • Not sealed inside a fully enclosed container, so it gets a bit of airflow
