Why Isn't My ZappyCard Working? — Troubleshooting

Why Isn't My ZappyCard Working? — Troubleshooting If you tap your phone to your ZappyCard and nothing happens (or you see an error), don't worry — almost every issue has a quick fix. Work through the steps below in order. 1. Is the card programmed? If you just received your card, it arrives blank and must be programmed through the Zappycards app before it will do anything. If you tap an unprogrammed card, you might see "Empty Tag" or nothing at all — that's normal. Fix: Follow the setup guide to program your card. 2. Are you on Android? Check NFC is enabled On iPhone, NFC is always on. On Android, it's often turned off by default. Fix: Go to Settings > Connections > NFC (the exact path varies by phone manufacturer) and toggle NFC on. Here's a quick video: How to enable NFC on Android 3. Check the redirect link This is the #1 cause of "the card isn't working" tickets. Open the Zappycards app, tap your card to edit it, and check the Redirect Link field. Common issues: - Business name included as a prefix: a URL like MY BUSINESS https://g.page/r/ABC/review won't work. Delete the business name so only the URL remains: https://g.page/r/ABC/review - Double https://: the URL has https:// twice. Keep only one. - Google search result URL: a URL from a Google search page is very long and full of parameters. That's not the right URL. Get the clean review link instead: 1. Open Google Maps 2. Find your business 3. Tap Write a Review 4. Copy that URL — that's the one to use 4. Is the URL too long? If your redirect URL is extremely long, the card may fail to write it. Shorten it with a free URL shortener like free-url-shortener.rb.gy and update the card with the shortened version. 5. Re-save the card in the app In the Zappycards app: 1. Open your card from the dashboard 2. Make sure the Business Name, Address, and Redirect Link look correct 3. Tap Update Business Location if you need to fix the link 4. Tap Save Changes 5. When prompted, tap the card with your phone to re-write the NFC chip 6. Remove your phone case Thick, metal, or wallet-style phone cases can block NFC signals. Try tapping the card with your case off. 7. Tap the top back of your phone The NFC antenna is at the top back of most phones, not the center or bottom. Hold the card to that spot for a second or two. Still not working? If you've worked through every step and multiple phones can't read the card, the NFC chip itself may be defective. Contact our support team and we'll send a replacement — no need to return the original. It helps to send a short video showing the setup attempt from start to finish so we can see what's happening.

My Card Was Working, Now It Goes to the Wrong Page (or 404)

My Card Was Working, Now It Goes to the Wrong Page (or 404) If your ZappyCard worked previously but now shows a "404 error," "too many redirects," or takes customers to the wrong page, the issue is almost always with the URL the card points to — not the card itself. Most common causes 1. Your Google review URL changed — Google occasionally updates review URLs, which can leave your card pointing at a dead link. 2. The Google Business Profile was edited or deleted — if the profile was changed or removed, the redirect will break. 3. "Too many redirects" — the URL programmed on the card has a redirect loop. A cleaner URL will fix it. The fix: re-save the card with a fresh URL Step 1: Get a fresh, clean Google review URL 1. Open Google Maps 2. Find your business 3. Tap Write a review 4. Copy that URL This is the cleanest version of your Google review link and rarely causes redirect issues. Step 2: Update the card in the Zappycards app 1. Open the Zappycards app 2. Tap your card on the dashboard to open the Edit Card screen 3. Tap Update Business Location to change the link, or edit the Redirect Link field directly 4. Paste the new URL 5. Tap Save Changes 6. When prompted, tap your phone to the card to re-write the NFC chip Optional: Shorten very long URLs If your URL is very long and you see write errors, use a free shortener like free-url-shortener.rb.gy. If none of this works If you've updated the URL and the card still doesn't respond to multiple phones, the NFC chip may have failed. Contact support and we'll send a replacement.

Android NFC: How to Enable It

Android NFC: How to Enable It Unlike iPhones (where NFC is always on), most Android phones need NFC enabled manually. If your ZappyCard isn't responding to Android phones, this is almost always why. How to enable NFC on Android The exact path varies by manufacturer, but it's usually one of these: - Samsung: Settings → Connections → NFC and contactless payments → toggle ON - Google Pixel: Settings → Connected devices → Connection preferences → NFC → toggle ON - OnePlus / Xiaomi / Oppo: Settings → Other wireless connections → NFC - Motorola: Settings → Connected devices → NFC If you can't find NFC in your settings, try searching "NFC" in the settings search bar. Here's a short video showing how: youtube.com/shorts/FVaeX4Njw2s What if my phone doesn't have NFC? Most Android phones made since 2015 have NFC, but some budget models don't. If NFC isn't in your settings at all, your phone likely doesn't support it. Solution: the ZC with QR version. Our ZC with QR product has a QR code printed directly on the card — customers with older phones can simply scan the QR code with their camera instead of tapping. Both the NFC tap and the QR code will go to the same Google review page once the card is programmed. If you already purchased a card without QR and a lot of your customers have older phones, reach out to support and we'll help you figure out the best option. How to tap correctly Even with NFC enabled, the tap location matters: 1. Tap the top back of the phone — that's where the NFC antenna usually is, not the center or bottom 2. Hold for a second — some phones need a brief moment to register 3. Remove thick cases — especially metal or wallet cases, which can block NFC Will the setup app work on Android? Yes. The Zappycards app is available on both iOS and Android and works the same on either platform for programming your card.
