🎮 Remote Control & Speed Modes

Last updated on Mar 31, 2025

This guide will help you pair the remote, understand its display icons, adjust speed modes, and troubleshoot connection issues for your Lectec electric vehicle.

1️⃣ Understanding the Remote Display

When you turn on the remote, it will display important information about your skateboard and remote battery levels (see visual here).

🛹 Skateboard Battery Indicator

Located next to the skateboard icon on the remote.

  • 1 light = Less than 25% remaining

  • 2 lights = 50% remaining

  • 3 lights = 75% remaining

  • 4 lights = More than 90% remaining

🔋 Remote Battery Indicator

Located next to the battery icon on the remote.

  • Flashing quickly = Less than 20% battery remaining

  • Slow flashing = Charging in progress

  • Solid blue light = Fully charged

2️⃣ Power Button Functions

  • Long press = Turn remote ON/OFF

  • Double press (after pairing) = Switch between Forward and Reverse Mode

3️⃣ Wi-Fi Icon & Connection Status

The 🛜 Wi-Fi icon on the remote indicates the connection status between the remote and the board:

Wi-Fi Icon Status Meaning

  • Solid blue light = Connected to the skateboard

  • No light = Disconnected

  • Fast flashing blue light = Backward (Reverse) Mode activated

  • Slow flashing blue light = Remote is in Pairing Mode

4️⃣ Throttle & Braking Controls

The throttle is located at the top of the remote and controls movement and braking:

  • Push forward = Moves the skateboard forward (or backward if in Reverse Mode)

  • Pull back = Brakes or stops the skateboard

5️⃣ How to Pair the Remote

📌 Important: Your remote should already be paired to the ESC out of the box. You only need to re-pair if the remote does not control the board.

Steps to Pair the Remote:

  1. Turn off both the remote and the skateboard.

    • Make sure no lights are on either device.
  2. Turn on the skateboard.

    • Short press (and release) the power button on the board.

    • You should see a small green light on the PCB inside the board.

  3. Turn on the remote.

    • Hold the ON button for 1 second until the remote powers on.
  4. Enter pairing mode.

    • Quickly press the MODE and ON button on the remote at the same time.

    • The remote should pair shortly after.

6️⃣ Changing Speed Modes

Your Lectec electric vehicle has 4 speed modes, allowing you to adjust acceleration and top speed based on experience level.

⚠️ WARNING: If you’re new to riding, start with Mode 1 before increasing speed.

Speed Mode Overview:

  • Mode 1 = 3 MPH (Slowest)

  • Mode 2 = 5 MPH

  • Mode 3 = 6.5 MPH

  • Mode 4 = 8 MPH (Fastest)

How to Change Speed Modes:

  1. Press MODE twice OR hold MODE for 2-3 seconds to enter selection mode.

  2. Single press MODE to cycle through the speed modes.

  3. If inactive for 5 seconds, the remote will exit selection mode automatically.

7️⃣ Troubleshooting Remote Issues

If your remote isn’t connecting or switching modes properly, try these solutions:

Remote Won’t Connect to the Board

  • Ensure the ESC is powered on and the board’s battery is charged.

  • Re-pair the remote using the steps above.

Remote Disconnects While Riding

  • Check the remote’s battery level - a low battery can cause intermittent connection issues.

  • Avoid high-interference areas such as power lines or heavy Wi-Fi zones.

  • Ensure ESC cables are securely connected - loose connections can cause signal loss.
