Caring for Your HeatCape Product

Keep your HeatCape heating pad or shawl working perfectly with these care tips.

General Care Guidelines

Before Each Use

  • Inspect the power cord and controller for any damage
  • Ensure the heating pad is flat and not bunched up
  • Check that no objects are pressing on the heating elements

During Use

  • Do not fold the heating pad while in use
  • Avoid sitting or lying directly on the heating elements with full body weight
  • Use the controller to adjust temperature as needed
  • Do not leave unattended for extended periods

After Use

  • Always unplug when not in use
  • Allow to cool before storing
  • Store flat or loosely rolled - never tightly folded

Cleaning Your HeatCape

Spot Cleaning (Recommended)

  1. Unplug and let cool completely
  2. Use a damp cloth with mild soap
  3. Gently wipe affected areas
  4. Allow to dry completely before use

Deep Cleaning

  • Check your product label for specific washing instructions
  • Some covers are removable and machine washable
  • Never submerge electrical components in water
  • Never put the heating element in a washing machine or dryer

Storage Tips

  • Store in a cool, dry place
  • Avoid folding - roll loosely or store flat
  • Keep away from sharp objects that could damage the fabric
  • Don't place heavy items on top during storage

Safety Reminders

  • Never use with wet skin or wet fabric
  • Do not use while sleeping unless designed for overnight use
  • Keep away from infants and those who cannot operate controls
  • Do not use pins or sharp objects near the heating pad
  • Discontinue use if you notice any damage or unusual odors

When to Replace

Consider replacing your HeatCape if:

  • The heating is uneven or inconsistent
  • You notice any damage to the cord or controller
  • The fabric is worn or torn
  • It's no longer heating properly after troubleshooting
