Whats the difference between the Pianta 18W and Pianta 30W?

Last updated on Oct 01, 2025

The Pianta 18W and 30W both feature a focused 60° beam angle, a warm-white 3,400K colour temperature, and a photosynthesis-optimised light spectrum, with a lifespan of approximately 50,000 hours.

The key differences are in power and light output:

  • The 18W delivers 33.1 µmol/s PPF and is best suited to low–medium-light plants, supplementing daylight, and compact setups, giving high light at 30–60 cm.

  • The 30W steps up to 55 µmol/s PPF, providing high light from 60–90+ cm and is better for medium–high-light plants, larger/taller specimens, or serving as a main light source in low-light rooms.

What is PPF and why does it matter?
PPF stands for Photosynthetic Photon Flux. It measures the amount of light useful for photosynthesis that a lamp gives off each second (in micromoles per second, µmol/s). In simple terms: the higher the PPF, the more “plant-usable light” your lamp provides. This helps you match the right lamp to your plants’ needs—ensuring healthy growth without wasting energy.

If your Pianta 18W setup is keeping your plants content, that’s great! There’s no pressure to change what’s working.

But if you’re curious about pushing your plant growth, or you’ve been eyeing some more demanding plant varieties, Pianta 30 is here.
