📲 Motor Tune Didn’t Work

Last updated on Mar 20, 2025

If your motor tuning process failed or didn’t improve performance, follow these steps to resolve the issue.

Step 1: Check Motor Wire Connections

If the motor cable is not fully plugged in, tuning will not work properly.

🔌 How to check:

  • Unplug the motor wire from the ESC, make sure the arrows on the connectors are lined up (refer to the link below for a visual), and firmly reconnect it.

  • Check for bent or damaged pins in the connectors, as this can prevent a solid connection.

  • Ensure the connectors are fully inserted and not loose.

Step 2: Check for a Hall Sensor Tuning Failure

If you saw the red error alert at the bottom right of the screen during motor tuning that says:

🚨 "Bad FOC Hall Detection"

This means that the ESC could not properly detect the motor’s hall sensors, which are responsible for smooth startup and acceleration. You can fix this by completing Step #1 and retry the tuning process.

Step 3: Make Sure You Saved the Motor Configuration

If you did not complete the last step of the tuning process, no changes were uploaded to the ESC, making the entire tuning ineffective.

âś… Final step to save settings:

  • After running motor detection, go to the Hall Sensor tab and complete the final detection step.

  • Click the “M” button with a down arrow to save all changes to the ESC.

  • A message will appear at the bottom saying “Motor Config Updated”—this confirms that the new motor settings have been applied.

If you skipped this step, go back and run the tuning process again, making sure to save your settings before disconnecting.
