The pitcher lid doesn't sit flat

If the lid of your water pitcher is sitting at an angle, rocking, or not closing flush with the pitcher top, the cause is almost always the Reservoir unit being inserted the wrong way round.

Why this happens

The Reservoir — the upper section that holds unfiltered water — has two ends that look similar but are slightly different shapes. One end has a small tab, and one doesn't. The pitcher housing is designed to accept only one orientation: tab aligned with the handle. If the Reservoir is inserted tab-end first in the wrong direction, it sits fractionally higher on one side, which prevents the lid from seating correctly.

How to fix it

  1. Remove the lid from the pitcher.

  2. Lift the Reservoir unit straight up and out of the pitcher.

  3. Inspect both ends of the Reservoir and locate the small tab — it's a subtle raised section on one end of the rim.

  4. Orient the Reservoir so the tab aligns with the pitcher's handle, then lower it back into the pitcher. It should drop in evenly and sit flush.

  5. Reattach the lid. It should now close flat and level.
